Who is this for?

Innovative tech founders and startups in the early stages of development who are driven, passionate, and ready to make a mark, regardless of how busy their schedules are. We are also really keen to be supporting founders across the whole region and from diverse backgrounds.

When does the programme start?

The programme will run from mid October 2024 to the end of March 2025

How much does it cost?

Nothing. It is completely free to take part as it has been fully funded by our partners, including Barclays Eagle Labs funded by UK Government.

Where is it?

Most of the content and benefits will be available to access at a place and time that suits you. Our in person group masterclasses will be held in Manchester across two sessions.

When and how can I apply?

Applications are open until 25th September 2024.

What commitment is required?

We understand how busy founders are, especially at the very early stage where you may be juggling other employment or commitments. We have shaped the programme to be flexible and most of the support is available at a time and place that suits you. We only ask for in person attendance at two afternoon masterclass sessions to which we will give you advance notice of the dates.

I am not from Manchester, can I apply?

Yes absolutely, our mission is to support the growth of individuals startups in the Greater Manchester region not just for people who were born here or grew up here. Everyone who has an idea to start a tech business, or who is wanting to expand their business with tech is welcome.

I am new to the startup ecosystem, is that ok?

Absolutely, welcome! We would love to support and welcome you to our startup community. The programme will provide you a network of at least 99 other founders and also signposts to other communities and support available.

I am already on another programme, can I apply?

Yes of course, we see ourselves as being an addition to some of the brilliant support already available and we are in partnership with a lot of programmes we can refer you to. As our programme does not involve a large in person time commitment you can fit most of it around your other engagements.

I have a full time job / I am a student, can I join?

Yes absolutely, we have built the programme to be flexible to individuals who are not yet working full time ‘in’ the business - most of our content is available at a time and place that suits you. We just ask for our cohort to attend two in person afternoon masterclasses in November and January.

How are applications assessed?

We will try to support as many applications as possible as long as we feel that the programme of support is right for what the applicant is looking for - we don’t want to waste yours or our time by accepting you onto a programme that is not going to meet your needs and support you in overcoming your challenges.

Do I need to set up as a company to apply?

Not necessarily before the programme starts as we hope that the support provided on this programme will empower you to take the next step.

What happens after the Initiate programme?

After the Initiate six month programme, you are still welcome to be a part of our Startup Activator network which continues the community of other founders and access to a monthly startup event as well as our other Manchester Digital benefits.
